Our home is the residents home. Personal belongings and familiar furnishings can go a long way to making it feel comfortable right from the start. That’s why we encourage everyone to bring photographs, ornaments, even curtains, cushions and favourite chairs. The more familiar the room is, the more likely it will be that it will feel like home.
In total we have 74 rooms. The centre is arranged over three floors, with St Alexius and St Joseph providing nursing care and St Mary’s providing residential care. The Care Centre also provides respite care.
Apart from one twin bedroom all rooms are single and most have en-suites. There are separate bathrooms fitted with specialist hoists and lifting equipment. The bedrooms are equipped with a nurse call system, piped music and a television point. Three lifts provide access to the upper floors.
On all floors throughout the care home there is a nurses station as well as a TV and coffee lounge.
Making our home your home
As we said, moving away from your own home setting can be much more comfortable if you have familiar belongings around you. All the rooms in the nursing home have a wardrobe, bedside cabinet, nursing bed, arm chair, TV aerial point and at least two double electric sockets. Residents are invited to bring curtains, light fittings, even chairs into the home if they prefer. The most important thing is to make their space their own.
We know that many of our residents appreciate being able to connect with the outside world. That’s why there is phone and internet access if required.
