HMT St Sancta Maria Hospital follows rigorous infection control procedures, and as a result has had no known occurrences of hospital acquired MRSA.
We routinely screen patients who could be carrying MRSA unknowingly prior to hospital admission and great emphasis is placed on infection control measures, including hand hygiene and cleaning throughout the hospital. We have trained infection control prevention nurses and all our staff have mandatory training in infection control.
Our dedicated team of housekeepers are managed by the support services supervisor and understand fully the need for the highest standards of cleanliness.
Sancta Maria Hospital is located just outside Swansea City Centre and has commanding views over Swansea Bay, towards Mumbles and Gower. Patients can book a single room, many of which have en suite facilities. Parents are, of course, welcome to stay over with their children staying with us.
Every bedroom has an electronic Nurse call system, satellite television, a direct dial telephone and wireless internet access.
Visitors are welcome to dine with patients in their room for a small additional charge.
Menu Options and Refreshments
We recognise that when you are not feeling well, it can be difficult to find something you feel able to eat. With this in mind, we have designed a menu to cater for varying appetites.
As well as our sandwiches, salads, starters, main courses and desserts, we have introduced a range of ‘light diet’ options. Alternatively, if there is something you prefer that is not on our menu, your ward hostess will be pleased to do all they can to meet your request.
All food is prepared on site and local suppliers are used wherever possible. Please inform us of any special diets, which will be well catered for.
Visitor meals can be ordered, so that visitors can eat with patients in their room. A drinks service is also available.
The hospital has a main operating theatre equipped with an ultra clean air facility called laminar flow.
We have a state of the art day surgery unit, endoscopy suite and recovery room.
Sancta Maria’s Hospital pathology service provides a wide range of diagnostic pathology including microbiology, haematology, biochemistry and histopathology.
Supervised by a number of Consultant Pathologists, patients find using the service to be quick and easy, with appointments available without delay and results ready very promptly.
X-ray & Imaging Services
Sancta Maria offers a comprehensive radiology service.
Ultrasound, routine radiology and a mobile image intensifier allow us to complete most diagnostic examinations on site.
