As part of HMT Sancta Maria’s commitment to supporting healthy, active lifestyles in South West Wales, they have recruited a team of HMT Fitness Champions’ from across the region to compete in the upcoming JCP Swansea Half Marathon.
HMT Sancta Maria agreed to support the race, now in its second year, and support all 5,000 race runners with ongoing medical advice from their expert team of Sports & Exercise doctors, as well as offering post-race sports massages to participants.
In addition, the team of ‘HMT Fitness Champions’ will have full health checks, a gym membership and individual training programmes, thanks to the LC gym and fitness team, and entry into the race, taking place on July 14th.
Stuart Hammond, Hospital Director of HMT Sancta Maria comments: “With Sports and Exercise Medicine being one of our key areas of treatment at HMT Sancta Maria, sponsoring the JCP Swansea Half Marathon seemed like an obvious choice for us to support. Our common goal is to get Swansea residents active and this gives us a great opportunity to support the runners with expert medical advice, as many of them have never competed in a professional race before.
“Running has been credited with improving cardiac health and lowering cholesterol, as well as helping to maintain a healthy weight. It has also been known to boost immune systems and also to reduce stress, all crucial to overall health.
“We look forward to sharing the progress of our HMT Fitness Champions over the course of the next six months and wish all runners the best of luck for their training.”
