Celebrating Our Dedicated Staff – St Hugh’s
We recently held a small ceremony to recognise the commitment of some of the longest serving St Hugh’s staff.
On Wednesday 14th November, Hospital Director Ashley Brown was joined by HMT Chief Executive Tony Barrett to present awards and shopping vouchers to 12 colleagues who have worked for us for five, 10, 15 and 20 years.
Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Staff Nurse Barbara Williams and Ward Team Leader Pauline Parsons have each been part of the St Hugh’s family for two decades.
Barbara said: “I joined St Hugh’s initially as part of the staff bank after relocating to this area from Lancashire. I worked on the ward and in endoscopy, before settling in the outpatients’ department.
“I thoroughly enjoy my role, working with a small but dedicated team who are like my family. The years have flown by, and I look forward to achieving my next award in five years’ time.”
Cosmetic Sister Lynda Thorndike was recognised for her commitment over the last 15 years, while Medical Records Clerk Tracey Jarvis and Housekeeper Wendy Woods are celebrating 10 years at the not-for-profit hospital.
The remaining seven colleagues are marking their first five years at St Hugh’s. They are: Physiotherapist Oliver Lea; Housekeepers Debbie Abbott, Belinda Smith and Liz Dobson; Staff Nurse Sheila Hutton; ODP Mick Bonner and Head Porter Nick Walker.
It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the achievements of the individuals who make St Hugh’s such a great place to work and be treated at.
We recently celebrated the hospital’s 80th year in operation and have lots of exciting new developments in the pipeline.
As we embark on this next phase of growth it’s important to not only recruit new talent but also to recognise and retain the great staff we already have.
