Double Award Success for Patient Safety and Data Quality at HMT Hospitals
HMT is proud to share a double achievement in patient safety and data quality, with both St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby and Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea receiving prestigious recognition from the National Joint Registry (NJR).
St Hugh’s Hospital has been awarded the Gold NJR Quality Data Provider Award for 2024, while Sancta Maria has earned Silver status, reflecting the commitment of both hospitals to promoting excellence in patient care and data integrity.
The NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacement procedures to support improved clinical outcomes for patients. It also provides vital feedback to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers, driving advances in care and practice,
Both hospitals provide a range of specialist orthopaedic treatments and procedures, including knee replacements, ACL reconstructions, shoulder replacement and carpal tunnel release, helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.
The awards were achieved following a national data quality audit program that evaluated the hospitals’ standards of patient safety, quality of care and overall value in joint replacement surgery.
Andrew Willcocks, Executive Director of Clinical Care and Acute Services at HMT, said:
“With the demand for joint replacement surgeries continuing to grow, it is vital that patients know they are receiving care in a clinically safe environment. These awards are a testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams at St. Hugh’s and Sancta Maria, who consistently place patient safety and quality of care at the forefront of their work. We are incredibly proud of this recognition.”
