Michael has a background as an Executive Director in Digital Health and as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, with over 15 years of experience in healthcare across both public and private sectors. This experience has given him a deep understanding of the corporate, technological, and financial challenges within the industry. He has worked collaboratively with a complex landscape of stakeholders, including providers, clinical teams, academic institutions, and patient groups, to develop and optimise innovative solutions that support healthcare digital transformation.

Michael also serves on the Board of the ABHI and is the Vice Chair of its Digital Health group. His qualifications include an Executive MBA from Imperial College London and an FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons. His research interests focus on advancing healthcare technology, optimising clinical pathways, and promoting data-driven healthcare with an emphasis on robust evidence generation. Michael joined HMT as a trustee in July 2023. Having transitioned from healthcare to industry, his motivation has always remained the same: to support those who deliver healthcare and empower them to provide the best care for their patients.

In his personal life, Michael is passionate about football; he plays at least once a week and is a season ticket holder. In addition to football, he enjoys running, good food, and spending quality time with his wife and two sons.
