Lisa Geary is a trustee at HMT, having joined in May 2022. She has worked as a real estate lawyer in private practice for over 30 years, initially advising private commercial clients and then specialising in providing real estate advice to healthcare clients—mainly NHS Trusts, GPs, and community care providers—over the past 20 years. After taking a short break from private practice, she became a senior lecturer in law at Leeds Law School, which is part of Leeds Beckett University.

During the pandemic, one of her daughters worked in a care home, which sparked Lisa’s desire to learn more about elderly care. This experience led her to want to engage more in this sector and use her expertise to make a difference. Her primary connection to the role comes from her professional career and the advice she provides to the healthcare sector.

In her personal life, Lisa is an avid swimmer, going for early morning swims most days. She enjoys reading, attending cultural festivals, going on long hikes, and taking adventurous holidays that push her out of her comfort zone and expose her to different cultures.
