Mr Mark Gerold
Mr Mark Gerold has been a trustee at HMT since 2015. He is a Chartered Valuation Surveyor with over 50 years of experience in the industry. He was a former partner at Weatherall Green and Smith, which eventually became BNP Paribas Real Estate. Mark left that position in 2011 to lead the real estate valuation team at EY London and retired in 2022.
Throughout his career, Mark specialised in various types of real estate, including commercial, residential, development, institutional, government, and healthcare sectors. Before becoming a trustee at HMT in 2015, he served as their real estate advisor for approximately 20 years. In the latter part of his career, Mark became actively involved in giving back to his professional body, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He chaired their Valuation Standards Board, which is responsible for the ongoing evolution of standards outlined in their ‘Red Book.’ He also chaired the Valuation Professional Group and became a member of the Governing Council and its Strategy Group.
Additionally, Mark served as a Trustee of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), which establishes International Valuation Standards across all asset types. With a strong interest in the healthcare and charity sectors, as well as extensive experience advising HMT, Mark eagerly accepted the role of Trustee in 2015.
